Chosen House

Chosen is a 501(c)3 non-profit foster-care and adoption support ministry.  Chosen wishes for all children to have a safe and loving home by Fostering Forever Families. Chosen supports foster and adoptive families through The Family Closet and offers community education on various adoption and fostering-related topics. Chosen's future vision is to develop a multi-family fostering community in Waukesha.

"Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ, just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we would be holy and blameless before Him. In love He predestined us to adoption as sons through Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the kind intention of His will, to the praise of the glory of His grace, which He freely bestowed on us in the Beloved." - Ephesians 1:3-6

"Chosen exists to Foster Forever Families by living the Gospel
so that all children can experience a safe and loving home."

Exciting Family Closet Feedback!

The Family Closet received some complimentary feedback from a social worker this week that we wanted to pass along to our followers and supporters!

September 20, 2017

Good afternoon Karen,

I just wanted to reach out and thank you/give you kudos. The two caregivers I referred to you last week had nothing but positive things to say about their experience with your program. They were extremely appreciative of the quality and quantity of the items you offered, but spoke even more positively of the treatment they received from the people they interacted with. They both informed me that they felt very welcome and comfortable and were impressed with the coziness and child-friendly set-up. One also mentioned your daughter, Amalie, by name and felt that she was extremely kind and helpful.

This is the first time I have referred to your program, and let me just say that it is a beautiful thing to hear such positive regard from my clients. Keep on doing amazing work!!

Amalie and JasonJason & Amalie Bowling

Co-Founders of Chosen

As an adoptive child, Amalie Bowling was raised in a Christian home where she was taught that she was chosen in love by God and her parents.  The idea of being chosen has been foundational in her life.  Her faith in Jesus Christ and her love for children have given her a heart to minister to children

Jason experienced adoption and fostering in different ways through his family and friends.  He, too, has a deep passion for children and ministering to them and has been involved with youth and youth ministry for many years.

Together, Jason and Amalie have a passion for all children to feel the love and security of a forever family and to have a relationship with Christ.  As foster parents, they have a hands-on opportunity to share their unconditional love with these children and hope one day to be able to adopt children who need a forever family.

Thank You!

Elmbrook Church's Mom's Ministry

Thank you to the ladies of Elmbrook's Mom's Ministry for selecting Chosen as their non-profit ministry partner for their 2017-2018 ministry season.  What an honor and blessing!  They will have a Box of Blessing at their studies and many have already expressed an interested in volunteer with the ministry. Thank you so much, ladies!  You are a blessing to us!

"Chosen has been a necessary lifeline to my family
while we've provided a loving home to foster children
in the Milwaukee County area.

On the flipside, whenever I have clothing that we no longer need, I know that
by donating those items to Chosen, they will find a new foster home that is in need
of those items. In the end, I could not be more grateful for the work Chosen does
for foster families all over southeastern Wisconsin."

Dear Lois Book Signing

Dear Lois:  Our Adoption Journey

Dear Lois is a unique perspective of an adoption journey told through letters written to birthmothers, by the adoptive parents, as their children were growing up.

The perspectives of the birth family, adoptive family, and adopted children take the reader on an emotional journey from the heartbreak of infertility to the joy of family woven together through adoption.

The mother/daughter author team (Karen Schlindwein and Amalie Bowling), have been promoting the book at various signings in Wisconsin, Iowa, and New York.

Proceeds from Dear Lois are being made to Chosen.
